Botanical Description:  A prostate extensively creeping glabrous highly branched perrenial grass, rooting at every node, forming matted tufts; leaves narrow, linear, soft, smooth, distinchous at the base, ligule a very fine climate rim; infloroscence terminal spikes, green or purplish, rachis slender, involucral glumes acute or subulate mucronulate, floral glume obliquely oblong to semi ovate fruit grains, laterally compressed about 1mm long. Flowering and fruiting throughout the year.

It is found throughout India, well cultivated for decorative purposes.
